The Challenge
Safeguarding valuable drug formulations from threats
Shilpa Medicare is a pharmaceutical company specializing in producing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and formulations, which it then sells to other drug manufacturing companies.
To sell their products, Shilpa Medicare needs to share dossiers with formula and ingredient information securely with their customers.
Drug formulations are confidential and valuable. If the information leaked to the competition, the company would face massive revenue loss and potentially lose a significant market share. Shilpa Medicare needed to securely share this confidential data with customers to prevent its misuse. They also needed to be able to mitigate the risk of exchanging information on the cloud.
Finally, they also needed to comply with international data protection regulations—many countries have strict rules about protecting data used and shared by the pharmaceutical sector and impose heavy fines on companies that don’t comply. Shilpa needed a complete data security solution for internal and external sharing, both on-prem and in the cloud.
The Solution
Data-centric security in one day
With Seclore’s Security24 offering, Shilpa Medicare was able to add data-centric security to its infrastructure in just one business day.
Once Seclore was installed, Shilpa disabled screen captures to prevent recipients from capturing data in any format. Seclore’s usage controls make it possible to limit and track who accesses information, what they can do with it, and from where. Printing and editing features are restricted to authorized users.
Now, recipients can only access the shared, protected data through native apps (rather than browsers), further preventing misuse and unauthorized sharing.
To prove compliance with international regulations, Shilpa Medicare’s Regulatory Affairs Department can now securely share highly sensitive audits and financial reports with external organizations without compromising data security.
The Results
Over 1,000 documents shared securely each month
With Seclore’s Security24, Shilpa Medicare can now securely share data on all devices, including laptops, tablets, and cell phones. The company can send and receive API and formulation dossiers at a moment’s notice without compromising their valuable IP. Shilpa shares over 1,000 documents back and forth each month, and 30+ authorized users from the Regulatory Affairs and Audit Departments protect and share an additional 400+ confidential files with external agencies.
Seclore has given employees the confidence to securely handle and collaborate with sensitive data as it is downloaded, accessed, or emailed from the cloud. It has also helped the organization gain customer trust and sustain its credibility in the market.
